Touch a piece of the Moon

Free event.

Come to see – and lay your hands on – the only lunar touchstone in the Southern Hemisphere. It is one of only 11 around the world.

The sample on display is a piece of the original rock collected from the Moon during the 17th and final Apollo manned-mission in December 1972. It’s on long-term loan from NASA and form’s part of Canberra’s Moonrock Trail.

When? The display is open to the public in the Geoscience Australia foyer from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (excluding public holidays).
